Tuesday, June 8th, 2010The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) in Chattanooga Tennessee is responsible for oversight of numerous reservoirs, dams, and fossil and nuclear power plants throughout the state. The TVA, which has operated since 1933, provides power to approximately 8.5 million customers in Tennessee.
Unfortunately, many of the fossil plants operated by TVA are known sites of potential asbestos exposure. Asbestos exposure in the workplace of any of these plants can cause serious and even fatal health problems, including an aggressive type of cancer called mesothelioma. (more…)
Kingston Steam Plant Asbestos and Mesothelioma
Tuesday, June 8th, 2010Tennessee residents who have worked and lived in and around the Kingston Fossil Plant, commonly known as the Kingston Steam Plant, are at an increased risk of exposure to asbestos, which could lead to serious health problems including the deadly cancer mesothelioma.

Asbestos is a fibrous material used in many commercial and industrial operations. When the invisible fibers of this substance become airborne, workers and others can inhale or ingest them, which can lead to serious health problems.
Exposure to asbestos at the Dupont Chemical Plant in Memphis may not cause health problems immediately. In fact, many asbestos-related diseases do not present any symptoms for years, if not decades, following asbestos exposure.
